Inspired performance in the International Open from Namir Al-Naimi

The 5TH NMT Global Project Logistics International Open Golf Championship supported by NMT Global Project Logistics was held at Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club on Friday 13th October 2017. The course was set up in true Championship fashion and provided a fantastic challenge for the day’s competitors. The Open saw club member Namir Al Naimi come to the stage at the end of the days play with a single point lead over the rest on 35 Stableford points. Namir was delighted to start the new season on such a positive note. Namir’s round was one of ups & downs with several dropped shots throughout the round, however Namir made two Net eagles on the 6th & 15th par fives to steady the ship & post the winning score.

Best Gross on the day was won by EGF member Chris Cornwall as he posted a steady 31 Gross points to take victory in the Gross Division. Other winners on the day included Hanief Sallie as he won the Africa & Middle East Division, Roy Holmes took Africa & Middle East’s Best Gross prize. Sajid Tanwir was successful in the European division taking first place, narrowly beating off stiff competition from Mel Stewart who took home the second prize for the European Division whilst Yorkshireman Ryan Taylor took home the European Gross Prize. Newly appointed Club Captain Mukti Rai topped the Asian Division with Sunny Ramadas taking home the Asian Gross prize. & to round off the days fun Ramesh Wijeratne took home the title in the America & Australasian Division.

A special thanks to our sponsors NMT Global Project Logistics, the event was a great success & acted as curtain raiser for the new season of the NMT Battle of the Continents. As the continent captains rally their troops for their respective qualifiers over the coming months they’ll have one eye on the trophy at the Grand Final on the 20th January. Qualifiers will be held from November to December, your Continent needs you.
